Carpet Cleaners: Tips and Tricks for Keeping Your Carpet Cleaning

As carpet cleaners in Hummelstown PA, we've seen our share of carpets that need some TLC. So we thought we would share some of our favorite tips on how to keep your carpet looking good.

One of the most important things you can do to keep your carpet looking good is to vacuum it regularly. Carpet cleaners like us have professional-grade vacuum cleaners, but the vacuums available to everyday consumers are quite effective as well. Make sure you vacuum at least once a week, and be sure to vacuum up any non-liquid spills as soon as possible after they happen.

When liquid spills happen, make sure you clean them up as soon as possible after they happen too. Blot up the liquid with a dry cloth (do not scrub), and if you are using a stain remover or cleaner, use as little of the solution as possible. And always be sure to test a small and inconspicuous part of your carpet with the cleaner before you use it elsewhere, just in case it damages or bleaches your carpet. Work from the outside of the stain to the center, and use a fan to help the carpet dry as fast as possible after you are done cleaning it.

Sometimes, however, the daily tasks just are not enough to keep your carpet looking nice and new. That is why calling in professional carpet cleaners like us is always a good option. We offer carpet cleaning services for residential and commercial clients, and we have the tools, equipment and training needed to get your carpets looking as close to new as possible.

But if you follow these tips, your carpeting should stay looking great for awhile!

When you need professional and reliable carpet cleaners in Hummelstown PA, call Allwein's Carpet Cleaning at 717-867-4100 or you can contact us to get a Free Estimate.

Advantages of Professional Carpet Cleaners

If you’ve noticed your carpets look like they’ve seen better days, then it’s time to look into hiring professional carpet cleaners to come to your Hummelstown PA home. But what are some advantages of hiring professionals instead of tackling this as a do-it-yourself project?

It’s Healthier
A dirty carpet can contain a variety of pollutants and allergens. You might think regular vacuuming will take care of this problem, but vacuuming can actually make it worse. Vacuuming releases these particles into the air where you and your loved ones can breathe them in. When you hire professional carpet cleaners like us, we have the tools and cleaning solutions to kill the bacteria and pollutants.

It Gets Rid of Dust Mites
Dust mites are microscopic. You might have an infestation in your home without even knowing it. While the mites themselves are not an allergen, the waste they leave behind is. Professional carpet cleaners can steam clean your carpets, which will kill these dust mites and decrease the chances of the allergens making you or a family member sick. Carpet cleaners like us can help improve the air quality in your home.

It Prevents Mold Growth
Carpets are exposed to moisture on a regular basis. If left unchecked, this moisture can cause mold and mildew to grow. Then this all sinks into your carpet fibers, where it is difficult to remove. Professional carpet cleaners can clean your carpets in such a way that mold and mildew will be removed. We have high-powered drying equipment and tools that can eliminate moisture.

We Have the Right Equipment and Know-how
Expert carpet cleaners like us have the best and most up to date carpet cleaning tools and cleaning solutions available. And we also have our Carpet Cleaning Repair Installation Certification. This certification is through a non-profit organization that sets the standards for the restoration, cleaning and inspection industries.

Save Your Energy and Save Time
Let’s face it: cleaning your carpets is hard work. If you hire carpet cleaners like us, we will take care of this back-breaking work while you get to sit back and relax. You won’t even have to move your furniture around or anything. Plus, when you hire us as your carpet cleaners, that frees up your time for other things.

When you need expert carpet cleaners in Hummelstown PA, call Allwein’s Carpet Cleaning at 717-867-4100 or contact us for a Free Estimate.

Selecting the Best Carpet Cleaners

If you’re looking for carpet cleaners in Hummelstown PA, there are a few things you need to keep in mind when trying to find a company that will do a good job but won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

First off – get it in writing. An estimate is only as good as the paper it’s written on. Meaning: if a carpet cleaner promises you a certain price and then tries to increase the price on you for no good reason, you need to have proof of a set price.

Carpet cleaners like Allwein’s should have Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). This organization sets the standards for carpet cleaners and others in related industries. Allwein’s has held its IICRC for several years and continues to follow these standards.

Carpet cleaners should also have well-trained and experienced technicians, like the ones at Allwein’s. You want to be sure each technician knows exactly what they are doing so your carpets don’t inadvertently end up damaged. A company should train each of its technicians in the newest carpet cleaning technology and techniques, like we do here at Allwein’s.

Another step you should take is to make sure the carpet cleaners are licensed and insured. A reputable carpet cleaning company like Allwein’s will be both. You want to be sure your carpet cleaners are fully legit just in case anything is damaged or anything else comes up.

When you hire carpet cleaners, you are helping to ensure that your carpets last a long time, even when they have to deal with a high level of foot traffic on a regular basis. Carpeting can be expensive to repair and replace, so making sure you get them professionally cleaned on a regular basis could help extend the life of your carpeting.

So when you need carpet cleaners in Hummelstown, call Allwein’s Carpet Cleaning at 717-867-4100 or get a Free Estimate.

Professional Carpet Cleaning or DIY?

Say you have an antique rug in your Hershey PA home. Do you hire a Hershey oriental rug cleaning company to do the job or do you go it alone? Depending on the rug's condition and age, it's more than likely for the best that you bring in a professional carpet cleaner. We tackled the subject in an article a while back, and noted:
Professional carpet cleaning has continued to be a popular service, and for a good reason. Not only does the service leave your abode looking and feeling great, it can often save you a lot of money!
The saving money comes from getting the carpets cleaned instead of replacing them. Plus, if you use the wrong materials while cleaning your carpets, you could ruin them and have to call in professional help or, as a last resort, replace the carpeting in your home. If you're not sure of what to do, you should probably hire a professional carpet cleaner.

Which Is Better: Steam Cleaners or Professional Carpet Cleaning?

When it comes to getting the rugs and carpets in your home cleaned, which should you go for: renting a steam cleaner or spending a little more on professional carpet cleaning? We tackled this very subject a while back and noted:
The floor cleaners found at the big brick and mortar stores are essentially vacuum cleaners with a small tank for a water and liquid cleaner mixture. Unfortunately the ease in which these units can be used is virtually non-existent. The average home owner or office staff will quickly discover the limitations of both the ability of the residential steam cleaner and how difficult it is to actually maneuver and lift the bulky unit. More than likely the floor cleaner will reside in a closet and almost never be taken out due to the difficulty and frustration.
The old saying, "You get what you pay for," could not apply more than in this case. Most steam cleaners that can be rented at a grocery store or other outlet are made just to get the surface stains and other noticeable imperfections out of the material. If your Hershey home has an oriental rug and you want it truly clean, you should hire the services of a professional Hershey oriental rug cleaning company.

Plus, someone else will do the work which means you won't have to struggle with the material in order to remove the stains.

Carpet Cleaning: Things to Know About Cleaning Your Carpet

Dirty shoes, pets and children can all wreak havoc on our carpets. It can be difficult to keep our carpets clean, as they will often become dirty. However, letting your carpets go soiled for too long can greatly reduce their life span. So, you will have to – or hire a carpet cleaning company to – clean your rugs. Before you whip out the industrial vacuum or steam cleaner, you may want to remember the following to make the process go much easier:

Often clean your carpets
If you let your carpets go too long without a thorough cleaning, you’ll have to use a stronger cleaning agent as the dirt will have ground itself deeper into the carpet, and have become more difficult to lift out. A regular cleaning schedule is easier on your and the carpet’s health, as well as the environment.

Take preventions
The worst carpet soiling invades from the outside, like the bottoms of shoes. Stopping outside soil from coming in will reduce the number of chemicals you will have to use. It’s best to place outside each entrance a large walking mat, and vacuum it every few days. Also, you may want to have visitors take off their shoes before loose dirt is dragged across the carpet.

Hire a professional cleaning company
Too busy to clean or rent a steam cleaner? You may then want to hire a professional carpet cleaning company. Many will clean your home for a reasonable fee, and give you a guarantee on the work they do.

Using these three basic tips can help make your carpet cleaning experience all the easier. If you need a professional carpet cleaning company in Harrisburg PA, then contact Allwein’s Carpet Cleaning at www.AllweinsCarpetCleaning.com

More Steam Cleaner FAQ

Here are some of the inquiries Allwein’s Carpet Cleaning gets about our steam cleaner work:

Aren’t all steam cleaners the same?
No. You can tell whether your steam cleaning will be done properly by looking for a machine with higher pressure. Machines with longer hoses are great to use.

Are steam cleaners the same as pressure washers?
No. A steam cleaner does not try to blast things clean, while a pressure washer does using high pressure and water volume. The only comparison between the two is that they make jobs fast and easy.

Can I use a steam cleaner anywhere?
You can use it anywhere with ventilation. Steam cleaners should not be utilized inside an area where air is re-circulated.

What accessories are useful?
For hard water, you’ll need a filter, and for reaching into tighter spaces, a shorter wand is necessary.

How long does it take for carpets to dry after being steam cleaned?
It depends on the humidity, but on average, anywhere from three to six hours. Low humidity days can have the carpet dry in less time.

We are a Harrisburg steam cleaner that will leave your carpet in stellar condition. Find out more about our services at www.AllweinsCarpetCleaning.com

Steam Cleaner FAQ

The Allwein’s Carpet Cleaning staff gets asked many questions about our steam cleaner services. Here is a sampling:

Are steam cleaners safe?
Yes. Make sure the steam cleaning is done with a quality system with the most modern safety features. If you do it on your own, be sure to read the directions and use proper caution.

Can a steam cleaner kill dust mites?
Yes. Dust mites are killed at 130 degrees, and the temperature at the cleaner’s nozzle is about 180 degrees.

What kind of surfaces does it work on?
It’s most used for carpet cleaning, but also works extremely well on linoleum, hardwood and vinyl floors.

Will it remove pet messes in the carpet?
If chemicals haven’t reacted with the fibers, then it will remove the messes. Note that the odor will be pungent while the areas is be cleaned, but will dissipate quickly and the carpet will be free of odor.

When should I steam clean? Until my carpet really needs it?
Your carpeting should never reach the point of being contaminated with soil and other products. It will weaken the carpet fibers and you’ll have to be very aggressive in how it’s cleaned. The extremes of very dirty and very clean will rapidly decrease the life of your carpet. Your carpet should be maintained regularly, so it has a long, healthy life and assists in a clean and sanitary indoor environment.

Harrisburg Carpet Cleaning Tips

It can be difficult to keep carpets clean with the amount of traffic coming in and out of your home. But, Harrisburg carpet cleaning can be a cinch with the right amount of knowledge. Here are five quick tips to help you with your carpet cleaning efforts:

Prevention
The best way to clean carpet spills? Not to spill in the first place. Prevention is always the best form of carpet cleaning. You’ll save money by not having to replace or repair ruined carpet, as well as not having to purchase costly cleaning products.

If you accidentally spill something, then take care of it right away. You don’t need expensive products, as water will help with most spills. If that doesn’t take care of the marks, then expand your search to find products that can help get rid your issue. Simple household solutions, like water and vinegar, can also help.

No rash rubbing
The worst thing you can do if you spill something on your carpet is to rub franticly. Rash and careless rubbing can cause the stain to smear and become permanent. You might also weaken the carpet fibers, making it more prone to wearing out quicker.

Treat well
If you don’t properly treat the stain, it can reappear at the carpet’s surface. You won’t know, however, until the same marks making it their way back. Prevent this by covering the stain with a thick cloth and weigh it down overnight so the stain can be absorbed. Clean as usual the following day.

Steam clean often
For a truly clean carpet, you’ll need to hire a professional Harrisburg carpet cleaner or clean it with a steam or deep cleaning machine, and it’s recommended a thorough cleaning be done every six months. If you choose to rent deep or steam cleaner, then do some online research about the different types. Each has advantages and disadvantages, and while one may work great for your carpet, that doesn’t mean all of them will.

Use entrance mats
There are few things more annoying than footprints on carpet. The best way to prevent this, and keep your carpet in sound condition, is to place entrance mats at each entryway so guests can clean off their shoes before walking into your home. Mats should be long enough and thick enough to remove the larger particles of soil. You should clean your mats on a regular basis so wiped off shoe residue doesn’t get tracked into your house. Know that mats won’t last forever, and even the best mats won’t prevent all soil from getting into your home.

Rental Rug Steamers and Residential Steam Cleaners

Why a Carpet Cleaning Service Is Better

With the advent of consumer model steam cleaners, which a home owner, office or business can purchase; one may assume that a professional carpet cleaning or floor cleaning company is an unnecessary service. Surprisingly this would be a false assumption. These units are designed for the residential consumer in mind and occasional use.

Conversely an affordable and professional carpet cleaning service will not share any of those aforementioned qualities. A few of the major advantages of utilizing a floor cleaning company is that regardless of the type of flooring material present most experienced companies will have the necessary means to properly clean the surface. There will not be any limitations due to tile, hardwood or laminate flooring.

Different surfaces, such as tile verses carpeting, will require their own particular cleaning method. There are even different cleaning solutions and chemicals for specific types of carpet. Some will work better than others. With residential cleaners, which include the rental carpet cleaners, the manufacturers rely on a one cleaning liquid fits all needs. Of course this is ineffective and can actually damage or decrease the longevity of the surface being cleaned.

The next benefit which the customer will realize almost immediately is the convenience of letting someone else do all of the work. Depending upon the service requested, many carpet cleaning companies, if not all, will remove and replace any and all furniture and objects from the surface to be cleaned. For residential and commercial locations this would include large and heavy pieces, such as desks, cabinets, chairs, tables, indoor plants, etc. A majority of carpet cleaning services, which usually handle tile as well, offer regularly scheduled service calls at specified intervals. An established cleaning service will allow a "set it and forget it" approach which help to keep the home and office in tip top shape for years to come.

Dirty Office Carpets and Flooring and Illness...

How They Are Linked and What It Means For Employers

Unless businesses have a cleaning crew devoted to regularly scheduled cleaning the odds that the office is not as clean as it should be. Simply having an employee running a vacuum every night does not assure that the carpet is clean. Hidden and ground in dirt and allergens will not only create a dingy atmosphere, but can actually cause the staff to become ill.

The number of allergies which the public suffers from is on the rise. These allergies, which cause respiratory distress, can lead to a compromised immune system and create the perfect environment for communicable illnesses to flourish. Surprisingly much of the contaminants, pollen and irritants reside in the carpet and upholstery of every carpet and office chair throughout the workplace.

Every time an employee sits down or stands up, the fabric of the chair is disturbed which allows any allergens to become airborne. The worst area, however, is the carpeting. During the cooler seasons the risk of illness can increase as well as the dirt. Indoor air pollution is a major contributor to employees missing work.

Vacuums actually do not clean carpets, but merely remove much of the larger debris located at the surface of the carpet fibers. The beater bar on most vacuums is supposed to loosen trapped dirt in order for the vacuum to remove all of the dirt. In truth the vibration of the vacuum motor and the beater bar can actually cause the dust and dirt to be worked in deeper. The best solution is to have a professional cleaning performed.

Allwein's Carpet Cleaning has a variety of methods at their disposal for specific types of carpeting. Berber carpets are very common in commercial, retail or corporate work offices due to the durability and longevity of the carpet compared to a high pile plush carpet. Cleaning methods for one type of weave will not work well on other types of weaves.

A professional floor maintenance company should be able to use the best methods of floor cleaning from deep steam cleaning to using dry chemical applications. The proper industrial cleaning equipment that the cleaning service companies possess are much costlier than the average rug cleaner which can be rented from an assortment of local retailers and will always perform better. The main advantage of utilizing a cleaning service, such as Allwein's Carpet Cleaning, is that the customer does not need to invest in expensive equipment and the maintenance cost which is required to keep that equipment in proper operating condition. In this highly indeterminate economy saving money is one of the high priorities of business.

Floor and Carpet Cleaning - Different Methods For a Deep Clean of a Variety of Carpets

There are a variety of methods to clean carpets. Some are definitely more effective than others. Among the choices are shampooing, foam cleaning, bonnet cleaning, dry cleaning and steam cleaning; which method will be best for the office will be determined by the amount of available time without customers or employees present. After hours is usually the only option.

Shampooing, foam cleaning and bonnet cleaning are very similar to one another. Each requires the use of a buffer. One major difference is that the bonnet is placed at the end of the buffer and brushes and massages the cleaning solution into the carpet. Once the bonnet has become soiled, rinsing the bonnet off allows the cleaner to continue.

Dry cleaning utilizes a powdered chemical which is deposited over the carpet. Once the powder is worked into the fibers of the carpet with a special applicator, it begins to attract and absorb the dirt. The carpet is then vacuumed extensively in order to remove the powder. Many commercial facilities such as schools or businesses which are open 24 hours per day may exercise this option.

Steam cleaning is by far the most effective carpet cleaning method available. With the high temperature of steam and water, along with the cleaning detergent, dirt and soiled fibers will be loosened and removed easily. This option however, does require a lengthy drying time just as the shampoo and bonnet cleaning methods.

Steam cleaners are available for purchase by the consumer, but the expensive price tag usually does not justify the cost for the average business. Rentals are available at many grocery stores or retail shopping centers. These rentals will do an admirable job for what they are, but the amount of time and effort to pick up these units and transport them is just the beginning. Moving the furniture and any obstructions is a major hassle, very time consuming and can be back breaking work. Many businesses do not have the labor hours or equipment to clean the carpet correctly.

The best solution is to contract with a professional carpet cleaning agency to come into the business and perform a thorough cleaning at regular intervals. Many companies will provide the man power to move the furniture in order to provide a proper and thorough cleaning. If the carpet cleaning company is to perform the work after hours without the supervision of the business customer it is important to verify that the cleaning company is bonded and insured

Carpet Cleaning and Tile or Hardwood

Best Methods for Ensuring Effective Long-Term Cleanliness

Every office or commercial business has different needs for maintenance; especially floor maintenance. Floor tile or carpet cleaning is not the same from one area to the next. Different regions have to deal with specific problems. In the southern states sand, mud and pollen wreak havoc on carpet. On the West coast similar challenges exist due to the overall climate conditions. Pennsylvania and New England have additional condition with which to contend: salt, sand, water, mildew, pollen. The list is never ending.

The best solution for keep the carpet or tile clean is to contract with a professional carpet and floor cleaning company to perform deep cleans a few times per year. Depending upon the volume of traffic, the carpet and other floor surfaces may require more frequent attention. The alternatives can be surprising and quite expensive.

Normal dirt from day to day operations is expected. When sand and salt are thrown into the mix wear and tear on carpets and hard floor surfaces can cause the flooring to degrade very quickly. Salt and sand will act as scouring agents and will dull and etch tiles and hardwood floors. Carpets will be detrimentally affected as well. The sand and salt will sift down into the carpet and dull the color and texture and weaken the fabric.

With regards to tile and hardwood flooring, it is important to regularly maintain the wax finish coat or other type of protective sealant. Sand and other granulated materials can weaken and erode grout joints encouraging the joints to crack and crumble. Carpeting requires regular vacuuming. Surprisingly, vacuum beater bars can actually cause dirt and other contaminants to recede further down into the carpet fibers, which cause the carpet to fray.

The best way to combat the negative effects of these and other contaminants is for tile and hard floor surfaces to be stripped periodically. Stripping a floor requires specialized equipment to do it efficiently. After the floor finish has been stripped the stripping chemical must be removed and neutralized. Because of this labor intensive process, it does not make sense for most companies to service their own flooring.

Carpeting requires deep steam cleaning to remove embedded soil, pollen and other contaminants. Steam helps to relax the fibers of the carpet and loosen the embedded debris. Once this has been achieved it becomes easier to remove the dirt and restore the carpeting to a brighter and cleaner look.

In certain situations steam cleaning carpets or stripping a tile floor may not be a viable option. There are other methods to clean flooring. The professional carpet cleaning company will be able to recommend the best solution for the specific carpet and environment.

Regular Floor Care and Carpet Cleaning is a Good Alternative to Spending Tens of Thousands

As the price of everything else increases, so does the cost of carpet. Many office complexes with carpeting fail to have a regularly scheduled professional cleaning performed every 6 months at the least. Saving money on expenses is extremely important to every individual and especially to businesses, but cheating the company by not maintaining the existing carpet will end up costing more with the long haul in mind.

Depending upon the location of the company, the cost to replace an existing carpet can be as much as $36 per square yard. What this means is an office area in the neighborhood of 1,700 to 2,000 square feet would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $22,000. How can it possibly cost this exorbitant amount of money to lay new carpet?

Carpet installation is not as simple as making a few cuts and dropping the carpet in place. If there is an existing carpet which needs to be removed, the amount of labor necessary to remove the old carpet and prepare the floor to receive the new one more than doubles. Depending upon how the original carpet was secured to the floor will also greatly affect the cost for new carpet.

Additional hidden costs which the customer will not see itemized generally are discard fees for landfills, costs for transporting the carpeting and the cost of downtime for the business having the carpet installed. All costs, but the last one are usually lumped in with the labor charges or built into the cost of the carpet. The cost of $22,000 is just for an area of approximately $2,000. If the property is a zoned office complex, the square footage can easily approach 15,000 square feet or more. That minimum cost for installation would jump to at least $180,000.

There are two alternatives. Either do not own any investment property which will need some kind of floor maintenance regardless of whether it is carpeting, tile or wood, or regularly maintain the carpet with professional cleaning services. With proper maintenance of the existing floor covering, the expectant lifespan of flooring can double.

Nightly vacuuming or sweeping and mopping will of course keep the flooring presentable for a few months. Over time the dinginess will gradually develop and even though people may not consciously be aware of it, the poor condition of the carpet will cast a pallor over the face of day to day business. Every 6 months is an average length of time to let pass between each professional carpet cleaning. Should the floor receive high traffic everyday, the frequency of carpet cleaning may need to be increased.

Carpet Cleaning Tips - How Dirty Carpets and Upholstery Endanger the Health of Employees and Can Damage Business As Well

Floor tile and wood flooring can be a simple material to remove surface dirt, depending on the texture and color. Removing dirt and grime from the grout or joints is a different story entirely. Much like carpet and upholstery, tile, grout and wood floors will collect a surprising amount of dirt and stains within a month at a business or commercial venue. Home owner's residences will take a longer period of time to build up the same amount of dirt without the home owner even being consciously aware due to less traffic in a residence.

Even though mopping or dry sweeping will remove the surface dust and debris from a tile or hardwood floor, it does nothing but pack the dirt into the grout or crevices. The joints between floor boards will also darken with dirt and grime as time elapses. A clear view of this can be seen by examining the baseboard or the edge of the floor where it meets the wall. There will be a stark difference between the shading and color of the grout lines at these points than the rest of the grout lines along the floor and packed gummy dirt or residue at the bottom of the baseboard. Customer's perception of the business will be negatively affected even though the floor is "cleaned" every evening.

The effects of dirt on carpet and upholstery are a little different and can usually present additional issues. Carpet and upholstery is not as durable as tile or wood flooring can be. Using a traditional vacuum to clean a carpet and upholstery, while removing surface debris, can actually cause greater wear and tear on the material being cleaned and intensify serious health issues.

Because of the use of beater bars in a vacuum, much of the pollen, dust and other allergens are embedded deep within the fabric fibers. Despite most vacuums having a HEPA filter, much of these contaminants will still become airborne thereby lowering the air quality at the work place. Individuals will spend as much as 90% of their time indoors. What this means is worsening health as the individual has greater exposure to airborne contaminants and irritants. To support this claim, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recorded that in the past several years, as people are spending more and more time at work, the frequency of illnesses and conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, headaches and other respiratory ailments are increasing. Every individual's health can be adversely affected causing increased call-outs from work which leads to a less productive person, both in their personal life and as an employee.

While opening windows will help usher in fresh air and remove the stagnant air containing irritants, the majority of businesses do not have windows which are able to be opened. A good method to improve indoor air quality and overall cleanliness is to employ a professional cleaning regimen. A professional cleaning company should help to improve the work or home environment while at the same time improve the attitudes and perceptions of customers and employees, personally and professionally

Carpet Cleaning and Floor Maintenance - Improve Customer Perception and Increase Sales and Revenue

The average individual spends more time at work than at home, but few staff members or management stop to think of how clean the work place really is. Indoor pollutants can contribute to increased health risks more than the air people breathe outdoors. Air cleaners only go so far. The best solution covers a wide range of cleaning and care requirements and just so happens to be the proper one for health concerns, image presentation and actually saving money.

There is no such thing as a maintenance-free anything. This is especially true of flooring. Some flooring materials, such as tile or hardwood floors, can be more durable than carpets and rugs, however even these types of flooring need cleaning and care specific to the type of material. There are several different types of tile flooring.

Ceramic or porcelain tiles are quite common in a variety of business from lobbies and luxury service establishments to welcome centers and restaurants. Over time the grout and tile itself will become dingy and darken with dirt. Proper cleaning will involve either scrubbing the grout line by hand with a brush and cleaning solution or hiring a professional carpet cleaner or floor care company. The latter is obviously the better of the two options in order to save time which translates to saving money.

Another extremely common floor tile is vinyl composition tile or VCT. VCT is extremely durable and commonly used in hundreds of thousands of high traffic areas. The local brick-and-mortar super center marts, schools, offices and retail stores are just a few places where vinyl tiling is utilized. Again, with moderate traffic, the gloss or waxed surface will dull and become dingy. When this occurs not many people will consciously be aware of this, but the unclean "feeling" can tarnish the customer's view of the business image and drive down sales.

Carpeting is similar in many ways. Dirty carpets may not reveal all of the marks and dirt, but will become worn down and house dust mites, odors and other irritants. For many employees and customers alike, this may not be readily apparent, but the overall perception will be a negative one.

Routine carpet cleaning and scheduled tile stripping and waxing can have a remarkable effect on how a customer perceives a business. Employee demeanor, surprisingly, can also be improved just by having the office floor and carpet cleaned regularly. If nothing else, the flooring will last longer when maintained properly and will save a business the extra expense of replacing the carpet or tile with more frequency.
